It is a Non-Governmental Organisation. Founded in 1856, the Chamber is intended to "inspire and influence business vitality". As of 2013, the Chamber claims a membership of 12,000 business owners. ==History== The Chamber was founded in 1856, at a meeting of merchants on 24 January, during a period of economic depression.
